General Information

The 4th Fair Trade International Symposium will be held at Liverpool Hope Business School 2nd-4th April 2012. It will bring together researchers, Fair Trade practitioners, and all those who are interested in, and who wish to share their opinion and experience about Fair Trade. The objectives of the symposium are to present the most recent studies associated with Fair Trade, to share information about on-going and coming research projects, and to confront important questions about the future of the movement.

The symposium will feature plenary sessions, parallel sessions, poster sessions and roundtables with practitioners. The main language of the symposium will be English. Limited translation will be provided for the plenary sessions, and a small number of workshops will take place in French and in Spanish.

Researchers and Fair Trade practitioners who want to present a paper will be requested to submit an extended abstract (5 pages) by 15 November 2011. The abstract should include the topic addressed, the applied theory and methodology, the results obtained and the main bibliography. It should be noted that an invitation will be made to those presenting at the conference to disseminate their papers in a highly rated international academic journal special issue (the details of which will be finalised closer to the event). Participants are also given the opportunity to submit a 1 page abstract for poster presentations. Notification of acceptance will hopefully be communicated by 15 December 2011. The full version of the accepted papers/posters must be submitted by 15 February 2011 to be included in the programme.
